Miguel has a very out of tune guitar sitting in his office. It is from his college days and living it up rock band style. ;) Miguelito LOVES the guitar. Honestly, he loves any music at all. Often I will look in my car's rearview mirror and see him dancing along to the radio in his car seat.

Kory aka Uncle Mudd (don't's a frat boy thing) came over for dinner the other night and broke out the guitar. Miguelito was instantly mesmerized and was so excited to strum the guitar and clap along with Kory.

If you see this post it means that BlogEngine.NET 1.4.5 is running and the hard part of creating your own blog is done. There is only a few things left to do.

Write Permissions

To be able to log in to the blog and writing posts, you need to enable write permissions on the App_Data folder. If you’re blog is hosted at a hosting provider, you can either log into your account’s admin page or call the support. You need write permissions on the App_Data folder because all posts, comments, and blog attachments are saved as XML files and placed in the App_Data folder.

If you wish to use a database to to store your blog data, we still encourage you to enable this write access for an images you may wish to store for your blog posts.  If you are interested in using Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, VistaDB, or other databases, please see the BlogEngine wiki to get started.

When you've got write permissions to the App_Data folder, you need to change the username and password. Find the sign-in link located either at the bottom or top of the page depending on your current theme and click it. Now enter "admin" in both the username and password fields and click the button. You will now see an admin menu appear. It has a link to the "Users" admin page. From there you can change the username and password.  Passwords are hashed by default so if you lose your password, please see the BlogEngine wiki for information on recovery.

Configuration and Profile

Now that you have your blog secured, take a look through the settings and give your new blog a title.  BlogEngine.NET 1.4 is set up to take full advantage of of many semantic formats and technologies such as FOAF, SIOC and APML. It means that the content stored in your BlogEngine.NET installation will be fully portable and auto-discoverable.  Be sure to fill in your author profile to take better advantage of this.

Themes and Widgets

One last thing to consider is customizing the look of your blog.  We have a few themes available right out of the box including two fully setup to use our new widget framework.  The widget framework allows drop and drag placement on your side bar as well as editing and configuration right in the widget while you are logged in.  Be sure to check out our home page for more theme choices and downloadable widgets to add to your blog.

On the web

You can find BlogEngine.NET on the official website. Here you'll find tutorials, documentation, tips and tricks and much more. The ongoing development of BlogEngine.NET can be followed at CodePlex where the daily builds will be published for anyone to download.

Good luck and happy writing.

In an attempt to quiet my brain and get ready for bed (yeah, I know it's early, give the exhausted pregnant woman a break), I thought I would just get out everything on my mind, which sums up to be quite the random list.

~William has decided I need to suffer from acid reflux/heartburn each afternoon. It sucks, but he better come out with a head full of hair.

~William also thinks it is fun to karate chop my bladder in the middle of the night

~I need to come up with a new name for the blog once William is born...any suggestions, oh clever blog readers?

~TekFocus is moving to a new suite in the InfoMart this weekend, which means a) Miguel numero dos is going to be on Mommy time overload, b) Miguel numero uno might not be in the best mood come Sunday evening, and c) I will have a few more gray hairs on my head.

~I need to get off my ever expanding rear and clean up the kitchen, put away the toys, and switch over the laundry so everything will be ready for tomorrow.

~Miguelito fussed at bedtime, which he rarely does. It was just his whiny cry for a few seconds here and there, but he was not happy, and it broke my heart to hear him fuss. He is cutting molars right now. When will he ever be finished with teething?!?!

~Oh, how life is going to change in the Wood home when William joins in the chaos.

~Miguelito needs organic whole milk for tomorrow...make a grocery list before bed.

A little background info...Miguel and I live in Uptown Dallas in a 3 story traditional brownstone. We love our neighborhood and our home, but since having Miguelito the stairs have been a constant fear of mine. We have a gate at the top of the staircase from the 2nd to 3rd floor, and there is a gate at the top of the stairs from the 1st to 2nd floor as well. The gate from the 1st to 2nd floor is problematic. It was an incredible challenge to find a gate to fit the opening due to the hardwood floors, size of the opening, baseboards/shoe molding, banister height, and add in a few other issues like my expanding pregnant belly, carrying Miguelito and groceries up the stairs, and you can see the challenge in keeping that particular staircase gated at all times.

Well, today, I suppose the inevitable happened. Miguelito fell down the stairs. I did not see him fall, but the sound of him falling and the scream he let out was pure horror. We had friends over for a play date and I had gone into the kitchen to make lunch. Everyone followed, and for some reason Miguel decided to go to the top of the stairs and down he went. I feel incredibly blessed that he was not seriously injured...he only has a small red bump on his forehead hear his hairline, and very thankful it was not a child of one of my friends.

It was the single most horrendous thing I have experienced as a mother yet, and I know there will be more accidents, bumps, bruises, and blood, but can they please happen on Daddy's watch?

Miguel and I trekked it out to Frisco today to play with a few Mommy and toddler friends at a spray ground. A blast was had by all and Miguel was asleep within 5 minutes of our drive home.

Freaking Windows Live Writer keeps messing up my blog posts. Anyone who knows me knows I am all about Microsoft, but at this moment I. am. over. it. My geek (ummm, I mean computer guru) is still at work. Shocker there. Why does Live Writer insist on posting a blog entry twice on my blog!?!?! So I attempt to go in and fix it then the doo-doo really hits the fan. It totally deletes my entry, so neither of the two appear on the blog and I have to recreate it because Live Writer then gives me an error when I try to re-post it. Clear as mud, huh? So, my dear computer geek why is this happening, huh, huh, huh? And don't tell me operator error. End of rant.

At playgroup last week, Miguel fell in love with a Fisher Price fire truck at Jackson's house, so being the indulgent Mommy that I am Miguel and I headed off to Target in search of the fire truck. He loves the fire truck and it is the first toy he goes to each morning after waking up. I am especially fond of the fire truck and it's catchy music, but, hey, any toy that entertains him for more than 5 minutes holds a special place in my heart. Miguel numero uno and Miguel numero dos had lots of fun racing up and down the hall...I think Daddy likes the fire truck too.

Hurry up, Daddy, let's see what this baby can do!

Oops, sorry about the wall, Mommy. It's all Daddy's fault.

Where's reverse, Daddy?

"All the reasons I love my Daddy" by Miguelito as told to Mommy

He tickles me until I pee pee in my diaper

He lets me play with his computer, bubble wrap, and his cell phone

He lets me get away with things Mommy does not, and Daddy told me, "What Mommy doesn't know, won't hurt."

All I have to do is stick out my bottom lip and pout, and I get my way. (Gosh, I love that my Daddy is a pushover.)

He gives me sips of his Dr. Pepper when Mommy isn't looking

He makes the best noises, especially the German ambulance, and silly faces

But most of all, I love my Daddy because he is the best Daddy in the world and he is mine!

Miguel and I had our long awaited ultrasound today. We are very excited to be expecting another sweet little boy! His name will be William Allen. William is for my late paternal grandfather, and Allen is for Miguel's best friend.

William looked perfect and measured at exactly 21w, which is correct per our due date of October 21st. My placenta has completely moved away from my cervix, so there are no more causes for concerns. William gave us quite the show...dancing with his arms above his head, flipping around, punching his feet into my belly button, and finally having worn himself out he rolled over stuck out his tongue and made a few sucking movements and went to sleep.

William's profile

Yep, it's a boy.

Miguelito and I met up with a few mommy and toddler friends at Going Bonkers to play and burn off a little energy. It is an indoor play ground with a specific area for toddlers...anything with air conditioning gets a huge thumbs up from me these days!

I think I can, I think I can run up the slide the wrong way!

Hmmmm, where should I go next?

Yep, I have learned to pick my nose...almost caught in the act!

Out of my way, I am throwing this baby in reverse. Me and my friends are out of here!

Three years ago my Dad (aka Papa T) lost his voice to cancer, and from that point to now we have read his lips. He recently started using a mechanical device to help him produce speech. This visit to Baton Rouge was Miguelito's first time to hear Papa T talk. Miguelito is quite taken with the device because it makes a buzzing noise and this morning climbed up on Papa T's lap for a closer look at it...and it did not hurt that Papa T's laptop was there too.

Hello, hello, Papa T, can you hear me?
